Keeps squirrels off my pagoda which is awesome. Simple to attach with screws in this case. Can be cut down into smaller sections. I’ve used the all plastic style before but this is much more effective. Highly recommended.

WHAT COLOUR ARE THE PLASTIC SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES?
Our plastic squirrel fence spikes come in a neutral colour that blends well with most fence types, including natural timber, painted wood, and vinyl fences. Once installed on the fence top, the low profile of the spike strips means they are relatively unobtrusive and will not detract from the appearance of your fence or property.
-
DO SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES ALSO KEEP CATS OFF MY FENCE?
Yes, our plastic fence spikes are highly effective at deterring cats as well as squirrels. Many Canadian customers purchase fence spikes specifically to stop neighbourhood cats from climbing over their fences and entering their gardens. The spikes make the fence top uncomfortable to walk on, so cats quickly learn to avoid the area — without being harmed.
-

DO FENCE SPIKES ALSO DETER RACCOONS AND POSSUMS?
Yes, plastic fence spikes are effective at deterring raccoons, possums, and other medium-sized pest animals that climb fences. The pointed spikes make it uncomfortable for any animal to grip or walk across the fence top. Customers across Canada report success using our fence spikes to keep raccoons out of gardens, compost bins, and garbage areas.
-
CAN FENCE SPIKES PROTECT MY RAISED GARDEN BEDS FROM SQUIRRELS?
Yes, many customers use our plastic squirrel fence spikes around the edges of raised garden beds, planters, and strawberry boxes to stop squirrels from jumping in and destroying plants. Simply attach the strips along the top rim of your raised bed to create a barrier that keeps squirrels, birds, and other garden pests away from your vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
-
HOW MANY FENCE SPIKE STRIPS DO I NEED TO COVER MY ENTIRE FENCE?
Measure the total length of your fence top in centimetres, then divide by 50 to calculate the number of strips required. For example, a standard 20-metre backyard fence perimeter would need approximately 40 strips. There is no minimum order — you can buy exactly the number of squirrel fence spike strips you need for your property.
-
WILL FENCE SPIKES STOP SQUIRRELS FROM RUNNING ALONG MY FENCE LINE?
Yes, squirrel fence spikes are specifically designed to stop squirrels from using your fence as a highway to access your roof, garden, or yard. By installing spike strips end to end along the full length of your fence top with no gaps, you create a continuous barrier that prevents squirrels from running, walking, or balancing along your fence line.
-
HOW LONG DO PLASTIC SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES LAST OUTDOORS?
Our hard moulded plastic fence spikes are built to last for years with zero maintenance. The commercial-grade polypropylene material is weather resistant, UV stable, and will not deform, crack, or rust — even through harsh Canadian winters with heavy snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. Once installed, your squirrel fence spikes provide long-term protection season after season.
-
ARE SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES LEGAL TO USE IN CANADA?
Yes, plastic fence spikes for squirrels are legal to use across Canada. Because they are a non-lethal, humane deterrent that does not trap, poison, or injure wildlife, they comply with Canadian wildlife protection laws. Fence spikes simply discourage pest animals from accessing your property without causing harm.
-
CAN I INSTALL FENCE SPIKES FOR SQUIRRELS MYSELF WITHOUT A PROFESSIONAL?
Yes, our squirrel fence spikes are designed for easy DIY installation. No professional pest control service is needed. The strips mount quickly using glue, screws, nails, or strong zip ties — all you need are basic household tools. This saves you significant money compared to hiring a professional squirrel removal company while delivering the same effective result.
-
CAN SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES STOP SQUIRRELS CLIMBING ONTO MY ROOF?
Yes. Squirrels commonly use fences as a bridge to access rooftops, eaves, and attic entry points. By installing fence spikes along your entire fence line, you block this critical climbing route and significantly reduce the chance of squirrels reaching your roof. For complete protection, also consider adding spike strips along roof edges and gutters.
-
CAN I USE FENCE SPIKES TO PROTECT MY DECK RAILING FROM SQUIRRELS?
Yes, deck railings are one of the most popular installation spots for squirrel fence spikes. Squirrels frequently use deck railings as a jumping-off point to reach bird feeders, trees, or rooflines. Attaching plastic spike strips to the top of your deck railing stops squirrels from perching and launching, keeping your deck area free from squirrel activity and droppings.
-
ARE PLASTIC FENCE SPIKES SAFE FOR SQUIRRELS AND OTHER ANIMALS?
Yes, our plastic fence spikes for squirrels are 100% non-lethal and environmentally friendly. The moulded plastic points are designed to create discomfort — not injury — so squirrels, cats, raccoons, and birds are simply deterred from walking along your fence without being harmed. This makes plastic fence spikes one of the most humane squirrel deterrent solutions available in Canada.
-
HOW DO FENCE SPIKES COMPARE TO SQUIRREL TRAPS AND REPELLENT SPRAYS?
Fence spikes offer major advantages over squirrel traps and chemical repellent sprays. Unlike traps, fence spikes provide passive, 24/7 protection without needing to be checked, baited, or reset. Unlike sprays, they do not wash away in rain or require regular reapplication. Plastic fence spikes are a one-time purchase that delivers permanent, maintenance-free squirrel deterrence — making them far more cost-effective long term.
-
WILL FENCE SPIKES DAMAGE OR STAIN MY WOODEN FENCE PANELS?
No, plastic squirrel fence spikes will not damage or stain your fence. Unlike metal alternatives, plastic spikes produce no rust marks or corrosion stains. If you use adhesive for installation, it can be removed later without leaving permanent marks. Cable ties and zip ties are another damage-free mounting option popular with renters and homeowners who want a reversible installation.
-
WHAT ARE FENCE SPIKES FOR SQUIRRELS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Fence spikes for squirrels are hard moulded plastic deterrent strips designed to prevent squirrels from climbing, walking, or perching on your fence tops. Each strip features rows of pointed plastic spikes that create an uncomfortable surface squirrels will avoid. Simply mount the strips along your fence line using adhesive, screws, nails, or cable ties for instant, humane squirrel protection.
-
WILL SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES PREVENT SQUIRRELS FROM JUMPING INTO MY GARDEN?
Yes, fence spikes are an excellent solution for stopping squirrels from using your fence as a launch pad to jump into your garden and dig up bulbs, eat vegetables, or destroy flower beds. By covering the full fence perimeter with spike strips, you eliminate the landing and balancing surface squirrels need to access your garden from neighbouring properties.
-
HOW DO I INSTALL SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES ON A WOODEN FENCE?
Installing squirrel fence spikes on a wooden fence is a quick DIY job. Clean the fence top, then attach the plastic spike strips using screws, nails, or strong adhesive. For wood fences, screws provide the most secure hold. Simply lay the strip along the fence rail and drive screws through the pre-formed mounting holes in the base. Most homeowners complete an entire fence line in under an hour.
-
CAN FENCE SPIKES BE USED ON GATES AS WELL AS FENCES?
Yes, squirrel fence spikes are ideal for mounting on gate tops, garden gates, side gates, and driveway gates. Squirrels often use gates as climbing access points because they are typically the lowest part of a fence perimeter. Adding fence spike strips to your gate tops closes this gap and completes your squirrel-proof fence line.
-
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ATTACH FENCE SPIKES TO A BRICK WALL?
For brick or masonry boundary walls, we recommend using a strong outdoor construction adhesive or UV stabilised silicone to attach the squirrel fence spike strips. Ensure the brick surface is clean and dry before applying adhesive for the strongest bond. Alternatively, masonry screws with wall plugs provide an extremely secure permanent fixing on brick, stone, or concrete walls.
-
ARE FENCE SPIKES FOR SQUIRRELS SAFE FOR CHILDREN AND PETS?
Our plastic fence spikes are designed to deter pest animals humanely without causing serious injury. However, as with any pointed surface, we recommend installing them on elevated areas like fence tops, wall caps, and ledges that are out of reach of small children. The spikes are mounted at the top of fences specifically so they serve as a deterrent barrier above normal contact height.
-
DO I NEED TO COVER MY ENTIRE FENCE OR JUST CERTAIN SECTIONS WITH SPIKES?
For best results, we recommend covering the full length of your fence with squirrel fence spikes — including gate tops — so there are no gaps squirrels can exploit. Squirrels are agile and will quickly find any unprotected section to cross. However, if budget is a concern, start by covering the sections nearest to your roof, garden, or other high-value areas you want to protect first, then expand coverage over time.
-
IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITY FOR SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES?
No, there is no minimum order. You can purchase as few or as many plastic fence spike strips as you need. Whether you only need a couple of strips for a small gate or enough to cover a full perimeter fence, you buy only what you require — no bulk packs or forced bundles.
-
DO YOU SHIP SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES FREE ACROSS CANADA?
Yes, we offer free shipping across Canada on all orders of $75 or more. Your squirrel fence spikes will be delivered direct to your door within 5–7 business days. We ship to every province and territory in Canada — from British Columbia to Newfoundland and everywhere in between.
-
DO SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES REQUIRE ANY MAINTENANCE?
Plastic squirrel fence spikes require virtually zero maintenance. For optimum results, we recommend an occasional check to clear any fallen leaves, twigs, or debris that may accumulate between the spikes. Other than that, your fence spikes will keep working effectively year-round with no ongoing attention needed.
-
ARE PLASTIC FENCE SPIKES AS EFFECTIVE AS STAINLESS STEEL SQUIRREL SPIKES?
Both plastic and stainless steel squirrel spikes are highly effective deterrents. Plastic fence spikes offer a more visible physical barrier with thicker, more prominent points — ideal for deterring larger animals like cats and raccoons on fences and walls. Stainless steel spikes are thinner and more discreet. The best choice depends on your specific application and whether visibility or stealth is more important to you.
-
WHAT MATERIAL ARE YOUR SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES MADE FROM?
Our squirrel fence spikes are made from high-quality, hard moulded polypropylene plastic. This durable material is weather resistant, will not deform or rust, and performs reliably in all Canadian weather conditions including extreme cold, heavy rain, snow, and direct sunlight. Unlike metal spikes, plastic fence spikes will never corrode or stain your fence panels.
-
CAN SQUIRREL FENCE SPIKES BE CUT TO FIT NARROW FENCE POSTS?
Yes, each plastic squirrel fence spike strip can be easily divided or cut to the exact size you need. This makes them perfect for fitting narrow fence posts, gate tops, fence caps, and other tight spaces where squirrels gain access. Use standard scissors or a utility knife to trim the strips to your required length.
-
CAN I USE FENCE SPIKES ON SHED ROOFS AND GARDEN WALLS?
Absolutely. While designed primarily for fence tops, our plastic squirrel spike strips are also ideal for shed roofs, garden walls, boundary walls, ledges, railings, balconies, and eaves. Any flat surface where squirrels climb or perch can be protected with squirrel fence spikes — they are one of the most versatile pest deterrent solutions available.
-
DO FENCE SPIKES FOR SQUIRRELS WORK ON VINYL AND PVC FENCES?
Yes, our squirrel fence spikes can be installed on vinyl fences, PVC fences, wood fences, metal fences, chain link fences, brick walls, and concrete boundary walls. For vinyl and PVC surfaces, we recommend using a strong outdoor adhesive or cable ties to secure the strips without drilling holes in the fence material.
Fence Spikes for Squirrels: How Pest Spike Strips for Fences and Fence Repellent Spikes Keep Your Boundaries Squirrel-Free
Your fence is a squirrel motorway. While you see a boundary between your property and the neighbour’s, squirrels see an elevated, predator-free highway that connects every garden, shed, garage, and roofline in the street. A single fence line can serve as the primary travel route for every squirrel in the neighbourhood, delivering them directly to your bird feeders, your roof, your soffit vents, and eventually your attic. The damage that follows, chewed fascias, gnawed cables, destroyed insulation, raided feeders, and dug-up garden beds, all begins with an unprotected fence top that squirrels cross without a second thought.
Fence spikes for squirrels turn that open highway into a closed road. A continuous strip of purpose-designed pest spike strips for fences creates a physical barrier along the top of your fence that squirrels cannot walk across, balance on, or grip. The result is a boundary that does its job twice: keeping your garden private and keeping squirrels off the elevated route they use to access every vulnerable point on your property. This guide focuses specifically on fence applications, covering the products, installation techniques, and practical strategies that make fence repellent spikes the most effective first line of defence in residential squirrel control.
Why Fences Are the Priority in Squirrel Control
Of all the surfaces on a residential property, fences are the single most important target for squirrel deterrent installation. Understanding why fences matter so much helps explain why protecting them delivers a disproportionately large return on a relatively modest investment.
Fences Connect Everything
A residential fence line is not an isolated structure. It connects to neighbouring fences, garden walls, sheds, garages, pergolas, and in many layouts, the house itself. This connectivity means a squirrel that steps onto your fence at any point along the boundary has an uninterrupted path to every structure the fence touches or passes near. A single unprotected fence gives a squirrel access to multiple buildings, multiple gardens, and multiple roof access points without ever needing to touch the ground. Protecting the fence line with pest spike strips for fences disrupts this entire network in one action, which is why fence protection consistently ranks as the highest-priority recommendation from pest control professionals advising on residential squirrel management.
Fences Are the Most Used Squirrel Route
Squirrels prefer elevated travel routes because height provides speed, safety from ground-level predators, and a clear sightline of the surrounding area. Fences are the most consistently available elevated route in residential environments. Trees provide height but require climbing and descending at each end. Walls provide elevation but are less common than fences in most residential layouts. Fences offer a continuous, conveniently height-elevated path that runs the full length and width of most residential properties, making them the default travel infrastructure for every squirrel in the area.
Fence Protection Creates a Perimeter Defence
Installing fence spikes for squirrels around your entire boundary creates a perimeter defence that intercepts squirrels before they reach any structure on your property. Rather than protecting individual buildings, feeders, and garden beds one at a time, perimeter fence protection addresses the problem at its source by preventing squirrels from entering the elevated route network that gives them access to everything inside it. This perimeter approach is more efficient, more comprehensive, and more cost-effective than protecting individual targets because it blocks access to all targets simultaneously with a single continuous installation.
Types of Fence Spikes for Squirrels
Several spike products are designed for fence top installation, each using different materials and profiles to suit different fence types, aesthetic preferences, and durability requirements.
Stainless Steel Fence Spike Strips
Stainless steel pest spike strips for fences use rigid metal pins mounted on a steel base strip that is fixed to the top of the fence. These strips offer the highest durability and the strongest deterrent profile. The pins cannot be bent, flattened, or pushed aside by a squirrel, and the stainless steel material resists corrosion indefinitely in outdoor conditions. Stainless steel strips are the professional-grade option for fence protection and are recommended for properties with persistent squirrel pressure, long fence runs where the spikes will be in place for many years, and situations where the absolute reliability of the deterrent is the priority over visual discretion.
Polycarbonate Fence Spike Strips
UV-stabilised polycarbonate fence repellent spikes offer effective squirrel deterrence in a near-invisible format. The clear plastic base and transparent pins are difficult to see from ground level, which makes polycarbonate the preferred material for residential front fences, decorative boundary fencing, and any fence line where visible metal spikes would detract from the property’s streetscape appearance. Quality polycarbonate strips with proper UV stabilisation maintain their rigidity and clarity for many years, while budget products without adequate UV treatment degrade in sunlight and become brittle within a season or two.
Plastic Toothed Fence Toppers
Plastic toothed fence toppers are moulded strips with rows of short, triangular teeth designed to create an uncomfortable surface along the fence top. They are less aggressive in appearance than pointed spike strips and are sometimes preferred for front-of-property fencing where even polycarbonate spikes feel too assertive. Toothed toppers are generally less effective against squirrels than dedicated spike strips because the tooth height is lower and the surface between teeth may provide enough flat area for a squirrel to pick its way across. For determined squirrels, toothed toppers serve as a mild discouragement rather than a definitive barrier.
Rotating Fence Top Bars
Rotating bars are cylindrical rollers mounted on brackets along the fence top. When a squirrel attempts to grip the bar, it spins freely under the animal’s weight, preventing it from gaining purchase and causing it to fall off. Rotating bars offer a clean, modern look that suits contemporary fence designs and avoid the pointed aesthetic of traditional spikes. They are effective on straight fence runs where the bar can spin freely along its full length but less practical at corners, posts, and junctions where the spinning mechanism must be interrupted. For fences with frequent posts and direction changes, traditional spike strips provide more consistent coverage than rotating bars.
Matching Spikes to Your Fence Type
Different fence constructions present different mounting surfaces, and the best fence spikes for squirrels are the ones that attach securely to your specific fence type without compromising the fence structure or the spike performance.
Timber Panel and Lap Fences
Standard timber panel fences with a flat top rail provide an ideal mounting surface for pest spike strips for fences. The flat rail offers a stable platform for both adhesive and screw-mounted spike strips, and the timber surface bonds well with outdoor construction adhesives. For lap panel fences with an arched or scalloped top, flexible-base spike strips that follow the curve of the top edge maintain continuous coverage without leaving gaps at the high and low points of the arch. Cut rigid strips into shorter sections to follow the curve if flexible strips are not available, overlapping the sections slightly to ensure no unprotected gaps remain.
Close-Board and Featherboard Fences
Close-board fences with a horizontal top rail offer the same flat mounting surface as panel fences and accept spike strips using identical methods. Fences without a top rail, where the vertical boards finish at the top without a horizontal capping piece, present a narrower and potentially uneven mounting surface. On these fences, attach the spike strips to a continuous length of treated timber batten screwed across the tops of the boards to create a flat, stable platform for the spike base. This batten also strengthens the top of the fence and provides a cleaner finished appearance beneath the spikes.
Metal Railings and Palisade Fences
Metal railing fences with a flat top rail accept spike strips mounted with outdoor adhesive, self-tapping screws, or cable ties depending on the rail profile and material. For round-top railings, cable ties threaded through holes in the spike strip base and cinched tightly around the rail provide a secure attachment that conforms to the curved surface. Palisade-style metal fences with pointed tops may appear to be self-deterring, but squirrels can grip the flat faces of the palisade uprights below the points. Adding spike strips to the flat top rail between the uprights closes this vulnerability.
Brick and Stone Wall-Top Fences
Many residential properties use a combination of a low brick or stone wall topped with a timber or metal fence. The wall cap provides an additional flat surface below the fence line that squirrels can use as a pathway independent of the fence itself. Protecting both the wall cap and the fence top with fence repellent spikes ensures there is no unprotected horizontal surface at any height along the boundary. Fix spike strips to the wall cap using masonry adhesive or masonry pins, and install separate strips on the fence top above using the appropriate method for the fence material.
Concrete Post and Gravel Board Fences
Fences using concrete posts with timber or composite panels between them present a challenge at each post because the narrow concrete post top is a different surface from the panel top rail. Squirrels will use unprotected post tops as stepping stones to bypass spiked fence panels. Ensure every concrete post cap is covered with a short section of spike strip or a purpose-designed post cap spike fitted to the post dimensions. These small details at each post are easy to overlook during installation but critical for maintaining a continuous barrier that squirrels cannot step around.
Installing Fence Spikes for Squirrels: Step by Step
A methodical installation process ensures complete coverage, secure attachment, and a finished result that performs effectively from the first day and continues performing through years of weather and squirrel encounters.
Measure and Plan Before You Purchase
Walk the full length of every fence line you plan to protect and measure the total linear metres accurately. Note any corners, posts, gates, and junctions where the spike strips will need to be cut, angled, or supplemented with additional pieces. Count the number of posts and gate tops that need individual coverage. Record the width of the fence top rail to confirm that your chosen spike strip width covers the full surface. This detailed measurement prevents both under-ordering, which leaves gaps in protection, and over-ordering, which wastes material.
Prepare the Mounting Surface
Clean the fence top rail along the full installation length. Remove moss, lichen, loose paint, cobwebs, and accumulated grime that would prevent adhesive from bonding or create an unstable base for the spike strips. On timber fences, allow the surface to dry thoroughly after cleaning, as moisture trapped beneath an adhesive-mounted strip will weaken the bond and eventually cause the strip to detach. On metal fences, remove any surface rust with a wire brush and wipe with a solvent to ensure a clean, oil-free bonding surface.
Install Strips With Zero Gaps
Begin at one end of the fence run and work systematically toward the other end, pressing each strip firmly into the adhesive bed or securing it with fixings as you progress. Butt each strip tightly against the previous one with no gap between sections. At posts, extend the strip right up to the post face and fit a separate post cap spike or short strip section on the post top before starting the next panel section. At corners, cut one strip to finish flush with the corner edge and start the next strip from the perpendicular face, ensuring the corner point itself is covered by one strip or the other.
Protect Gates and Access Points
Gates are the most commonly missed element in fence spike installations, and they are the first place a squirrel will test once the adjacent fence panels are protected. Install pest spike strips for fences across the full width of each gate top rail, using adhesive rather than screws to avoid weakening the gate structure. Extend coverage to both gate post tops and to any flat hardware such as hinge posts and latch posts that a squirrel could use as a foothold to bypass the spiked gate surface.
Allowing for Fence Maintenance and Replacement
Fences require periodic maintenance including painting, staining, and panel replacement. When installing fence spikes for squirrels, consider how the spikes will interact with future maintenance activities. Adhesive-mounted strips on timber fences may need to be removed and reinstalled when the fence is repainted. Screw-mounted strips can be unscrewed, the fence maintained, and the strips refixed. Planning for maintenance access at the installation stage prevents the frustration of discovering that your spike strips need to be destroyed to reach the surface beneath them.
Common Mistakes That Compromise Fence Spike Effectiveness
Even quality fence repellent spikes can fail to deter squirrels if specific installation mistakes create vulnerabilities that the animals discover and exploit.
Leaving Post Tops Unprotected
Every fence post cap that is not covered with a spike is a stepping stone that allows a squirrel to bypass the spiked panels between the posts. On a typical residential fence with posts every 1.8 to 2.4 metres, a squirrel can easily leap from one unprotected post top to the next, using the posts as a series of safe landing pads that skip over the spiked sections entirely. Covering every post top is not an optional finishing detail. It is an essential requirement for the spike installation to function as intended.
Using Bird Spikes Instead of Squirrel-Specific Products
Bird deterrent spikes with thin, flexible pins are frequently sold as multi-purpose pest spikes suitable for squirrels. They are not. A squirrel weighing 500 grams or more will flatten standard bird spikes under its body weight and walk across them as if they were not there. Fence spikes for squirrels must use thicker, more rigid pins on a sturdy base that cannot be defeated by the animal’s weight and grip strength. This distinction is the most common cause of failed fence spike installations and the most avoidable.
Leaving Gaps at Corners and Junctions
The points where your fence changes direction, meets a wall, or connects to a building are natural weak spots where coverage gaps tend to occur. These junctions are precisely where squirrels transition between structures, and an unprotected junction is all a squirrel needs to move from a spiked fence to an unspiked wall or building surface. Fill every junction gap with spike material, even if the section is only a few centimetres long, to maintain the continuous barrier that effective squirrel deterrence requires.
Allowing Debris to Accumulate
Fallen leaves, twigs, and garden debris that settle on fence top spike strips create a mat that sits above the spike tips, allowing a squirrel to walk across the debris without the spikes contacting its paws. Autumn is the peak season for this problem, and it coincides with the period of increased squirrel activity as the animals prepare for winter. Clear debris from fence spikes at least twice during autumn and check again in early spring to ensure the spikes are fully exposed and functional before the main squirrel activity season begins.
Complementary Measures for Complete Fence Line Protection
Fence spikes for squirrels are the most effective single measure for fence line protection, but combining them with a few complementary strategies strengthens the overall defence and addresses access methods that spikes alone cannot prevent.
Trim Overhanging Branches
A tree branch overhanging your fence gives squirrels an aerial bypass that drops them onto your property beyond the spiked fence line. Maintain a gap of at least two metres between any branch and your fence, wall, or roof to prevent squirrels from using the branch as a launch pad. This trimming eliminates the most common method squirrels use to defeat an otherwise complete fence spike installation and is a particularly important measure if you have trees growing near your boundary on either your property or your neighbour’s.
Address Vertical Climbing Routes Near the Fence
If your fence runs close to drainpipes, utility poles, or other vertical structures that squirrels can climb, the animals may climb the vertical structure and jump sideways onto the fence on the far side of the spiked section. Fitting climbing guards to nearby vertical surfaces prevents this lateral access and forces squirrels to approach the fence from ground level, where the spiked fence top is an insurmountable obstacle rather than a barrier that can be bypassed from above.
Monitor and Extend Coverage Over Time
After installing pest spike strips for fences, observe your fence line over the following weeks for signs of continued squirrel activity. Look for fresh scratch marks, droppings, or sightings of squirrels on or near the fence that indicate they are testing the barrier or have found an unprotected section you missed during installation. Extend your spike coverage to address any new vulnerabilities you identify, and continue monitoring as the squirrel population adjusts its behaviour in response to the barrier. This adaptive approach ensures your fence protection evolves alongside the challenge it was installed to meet.
The Fence That Works Twice
A fence with squirrel spikes along its top performs double duty. It defines your boundary and it defends it. Every metre of pest spike strips for fences you install closes another section of the elevated highway that squirrels depend on to reach your roof, your garden, and your home. The investment is modest, the installation is straightforward, and the result is a boundary line that stops squirrel traffic permanently without harming a single animal, without requiring ongoing maintenance, and without the repeated reapplication that chemical and scent-based repellents demand.
Start at the section of fence closest to the area where squirrels are causing the most damage, and work outward until every fence panel, every post cap, every gate top, and every corner is covered. When the last strip is in place and the last gap is closed, your fence becomes the barrier it always looked like but never actually was, and the squirrels that have been running across it every day will need to find a new route that does not include your property.

So we had a problem with squirrels getting into our our pool heater and feasting on pecans. I looked for several things to try and prevent them and decided on these ‘cat repellent’ spike strips. After nearly 2 weeks, there is no sign of them in the heater.

Pretty decent product , I was happy to see something like this on the market. There are bobcats spotted near the back of my house, and I wanted some line of defense to protect my 10 pound dog that likes to hang out in the backyard during the day . Your product seem to take care of that first line of defense, (preventive scaling/walking the TOP of my wooden back fence, and jumping into my backyard).

Nice product. I got rid of my enemies in my house and fence haha 2 thumbs up for this. Recommended to my friends.

I do feel this product will serve me well over all on any predators over 25 pounds that may be interested enough to hop up-top my fence.

Incredibly thick and the cats haven’t been back to sit on our outdoor furniture! We taped some together to make sure them larger.

I ordered the defender spikes to keep possums off of my wooden fence and since I put them defender spikes up I have not seen a possum on the fence. They have not seemed to deter squirrels, however, but that’s okay with me. I am going to put up a few more strips.

We are at our wits end over the squirrels & cats that destroy my plants & smell up my backyard. We stated with one package & have added many more. It doesn’t exactly keep the cats away, but they don’t like walking on them & squirrels are avoiding them. We did have to redo them because the suggested glue did not work on the bricks.

THis was one of the best things i got. Recently my cat has been trying to escape to the oustide world from my window and i have been keep my windows closed because of this. SO i saw this and thought this might work. Well by Golly.. it worked.. he put his paws on it and next thing i knew and say was him running away.. I check his paws to see if any injuries. I found none.. He was just pricked and it works.. I have been able to leave the window open and i dont expect him to try to get onto the window sill no more.. So far it has been like a month or so and he is no where near the window.. Great things come in small packages.. I did not even taped it to the window sills.. I just put it on and then when i closed the window i take them off the window sills.

I glued this on my fence posts, my black fence post was turning white due to all the bird droppings.
After installing this, I’ve noticed a very significant reduction of bird traffic to my fence post, but it did not completely eliminate it. Some birds can stand on the spikes just fine.
Overall I’m happy with the product as it did reduce bird traffic, I hope the company will find a way to completely eliminate bird traffic, perhaps longer spikes may work?

The product came as specified and expected. It would have been more helpful, particularly for people who are not very handy, to have recommendations for hole size and screw size to drill, or type of adhesive to apply. The general instructions of “clean surface and apply adhesive” or “clean surface and screw into place” might be a bit too general for some buyers. In my application on a gutter downspout, 7/64″ pilot holes in the downspout with a #6 stainless steel sheet metal screw 3/8″ long worked well with this product. I was careful to select a metal alloy screw compatible with the aluminum downspout to avoid corrosion with dissimilar metals.

Thank you very much for such helpful product !It arrived even prior listing date, great green packaging. It took only one attempt to train “my” squirrel, which used to ruin all my container projects on my balcony. I don’t have any intruders anymore. I am recommending this product to my friends and neighbors

Thanks. I just installed several strips around a raised strawberry box that was under constant attack by squirrels and birds. They worked so well I just placed another order to protect my espaliered apple tree and pear tree.

Squirrels were jumping from the deck railing (on the steps) to the platform feeder hanging from a tree branch. The traffic has stopped! I used garden twine to attach it; it’s secure with no damage to our new deck. In the summer I will use them to protect the rail planters as well.

I’ve mounted mine along the backside of a pergola to prevent doves from nesting. So far things are wonderful.

Like everything about bird spike. Easy to install ( I used double sided tape I already had) and…. It works… I sit on my balcony a lot and have observed that the birds fly around the posts but no longer sit on the railing and drop bird poop on my balcony tiles

Don’t waste your time buying Owl scarecrows, this thing has reduce my problem in a 90% so it Really work.

These worked perfectly for what we needed. I like that they’re spiky enough to keep cat off, but not so spiky that they hurt her when she does paw at them. Couldn’t be happier.

Easy to install and no more bird poop on my garden swing cushions! Thank you!

We have had swarms of swallows, sparrows and pidgins setting up shop on our back railing for years. The ness they left needed to be cleaned up so often, I started leaving the power washer in the backyard. These spikes were EXACTLY the right size and we haven’t had a bird back there for weeks. I’m mad at myself for not getting these sooner. Outstanding product!

Like the way that it has section. Put them under my garage and the birds have stopped building their nests. Easy to put up. Great product.
