Squirrels sit on the decking rail and rip the gazebo insect screen mesh for material to make their nests. Three netting replacements, later, I decided to try these squirrel spikes on top of the deck rail in that troublesome area. It has worked marvelously as a squirrel deterrent and we can now enjoy the gazebo with intact mesh.

DO SQUIRREL SPIKES WORK ON ROOFTOPS AND EAVES?
Yes, squirrel spikes are highly effective on rooftops, eaves, and gutters. Installing 50cm anti squirrel spike strips along roof edges and eave lines blocks the access points squirrels use to enter attics and roof spaces. The stainless steel spikes withstand all Canadian weather conditions including heavy snow, ice, and UV exposure without degrading.
-
WHAT ARE SQUIRREL SPIKES 50CM STRIPS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Our squirrel spikes 50cm strips are a humane, non-lethal squirrel deterrent designed to prevent squirrels from landing, perching, or climbing on your property. Each 50cm strip features marine grade stainless steel spikes mounted on a durable, transparent polycarbonate base. When installed on fences, ledges, rooftops, or railings, the spikes create an uncomfortable surface that discourages squirrels from accessing the area — without causing them any harm.
-
HOW DO I INSTALL SQUIRREL SPIKES ON MY FENCE IN CANADA?
Installing squirrel spikes on your fence is a simple DIY job. First, clean the surface where you plan to mount the 50cm strips. Then attach using UV stabilised silicone adhesive, screws, nails, or cable ties — whichever suits your fence material best. The polycarbonate base can be fixed using adhesive, screws, nails, or cable ties depending on the surface material, giving you full flexibility for any installation scenario.
-
WILL SQUIRREL SPIKES STOP SQUIRRELS FROM GETTING INTO MY ATTIC?
Squirrel spike strips are one of the best ways to prevent squirrels from accessing your attic. By installing anti squirrel spikes along roof edges, eave lines, gutter tops, and downspouts, you block the climbing routes squirrels use to reach attic entry points. For best results, cover all potential access paths with continuous rows of 50cm spike strips.
-
HOW MANY 50CM SQUIRREL SPIKE STRIPS DO I NEED FOR MY FENCE?
Simply measure the total length of the fence top you want to protect in centimetres, then divide by 50 to get the number of strips needed. For example, a 10-metre fence would require 20 strips. There is no minimum order — you can buy only the number of 50cm squirrel spike strips you need.
-
WILL SQUIRREL SPIKES DAMAGE MY FENCE OR PROPERTY?
No. The lightweight polycarbonate base and stainless steel spikes will not damage your fence, roof, ledge, or any other surface. If you use silicone adhesive for installation, it can be cleanly removed later if needed. Alternatively, using cable ties or zip ties leaves absolutely no marks or damage to the mounting surface.
-
HOW DO SQUIRREL SPIKES PROTECT MY ROOF FROM SQUIRREL DAMAGE?
Squirrels can cause serious roof damage by chewing through shingles, fascia boards, and soffits to access your attic. Installing anti squirrel spike strips along roof edges, gutters, and eave lines creates a physical barrier that prevents squirrels from gaining a foothold. This protects your roof structure, insulation, and electrical wiring from costly squirrel damage.
-
CAN I CUT THE 50CM SQUIRREL SPIKE STRIPS TO A CUSTOM SIZE?
Absolutely. Each 50cm squirrel spike strip can be easily cut or divided to fit narrow ledges, downspouts, windowsills, or any smaller area where you need squirrel protection. The polycarbonate base is simple to trim with standard household scissors or a utility knife, so you only use exactly what you need.
-
CAN SQUIRREL SPIKES BE USED ON COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES AND WAREHOUSES?
Absolutely. Squirrel spike strips are suitable for both residential and commercial applications. Business owners, property managers, and facility managers across Canada use our 50cm anti squirrel spikes to protect warehouse rooflines, office building ledges, signage, loading docks, and HVAC units from squirrel damage and nesting.
-
DO SQUIRREL SPIKES REQUIRE ANY MAINTENANCE AFTER INSTALLATION?

An occasional visual inspection to clear any leaf debris or buildup is all that is needed to keep your squirrel deterrent spikes working effectively for years.
-
CAN SQUIRREL SPIKES BE INSTALLED ON CURVED OR IRREGULAR SURFACES?
Yes. The flexible polycarbonate base on our 50cm squirrel spike strips bends to conform to curved pipes, rounded railings, irregular fence tops, and uneven masonry. This flexibility makes them ideal for installation on downspouts, pergola beams, garden arches, and other non-flat surfaces where squirrels like to climb.
-
ARE THE 50CM SQUIRREL SPIKE STRIPS SAFE FOR SQUIRRELS AND OTHER WILDLIFE?
Yes, our anti squirrel spikes are 100% non-lethal and environmentally friendly. The stainless steel spikes are designed to create discomfort — not injury — so squirrels, birds, raccoons, and other small animals are simply deterred from the area. This makes them one of the most humane squirrel control solutions available in Canada.
-
ARE STAINLESS STEEL SQUIRREL SPIKES BETTER THAN PLASTIC SQUIRREL SPIKES?
Stainless steel squirrel spikes are generally more effective and longer lasting than all-plastic alternatives. The marine grade stainless steel wire used in our 50cm squirrel spike strips is far less visible from ground level, more resistant to UV degradation, and provides a stronger physical deterrent. Plastic spikes can become brittle in harsh Canadian winters, while stainless steel spikes remain effective year-round.
-
WHAT MATERIALS ARE THE SQUIRREL SPIKE 50CM STRIPS MADE FROM?
Each 50cm squirrel spike strip features marine grade stainless steel spikes set into a transparent polycarbonate base. The stainless steel wire will not rust or corrode, while the polycarbonate base is lightweight, UV resistant, and virtually invisible once installed. These materials ensure your squirrel deterrent spikes last for years with zero maintenance.

CAN I INSTALL SQUIRREL SPIKES MYSELF OR DO I NEED A PROFESSIONAL?
Our 50cm squirrel spike strips are specifically designed for easy DIY installation — no professional pest control service required. Most homeowners complete the installation in minutes using basic tools and adhesive, screws, or cable ties. This saves you significant money compared to hiring a professional squirrel removal or pest control company.
-
ARE SQUIRREL SPIKES LEGAL TO USE IN CANADA?
Yes, squirrel spikes are legal to use across Canada. Because our anti squirrel spike strips are non-lethal and do not trap, poison, or injure wildlife, they are considered a humane pest deterrent solution. They simply discourage squirrels from accessing certain areas of your property without causing harm to the animals.
-
HOW LONG DO SQUIRREL SPIKES LAST OUTDOORS IN CANADIAN WEATHER?
Our squirrel spike strips are built to last for years — even a lifetime — with zero maintenance. The marine grade stainless steel spikes will not rust or corrode, and the UV-resistant polycarbonate base withstands extreme Canadian winters, heavy rain, snow, ice, and summer sun without cracking or discolouring.

Our squirrel spike strips are designed to be as discreet as possible. The transparent polycarbonate base blends with virtually any surface colour, and the thin stainless steel spikes are nearly invisible from ground level looking upward. The low-profile base sits just 5mm high, so your squirrel deterrent solution will not detract from the appearance of your property.
-
CAN I USE SQUIRREL SPIKES TO PROTECT MY DECK OR PATIO FURNITURE?
Yes, many Canadian homeowners use squirrel spike strips to protect deck railings, patio pergolas, and outdoor furniture from squirrel activity. Placing 50cm strips along railings and ledges around your deck area prevents squirrels from perching overhead, nesting, and leaving droppings on your outdoor living spaces.
-
CAN SQUIRREL SPIKES BE USED ON GARDEN BEDS AND RAISED PLANTERS?
Yes, squirrel spike strips are a popular solution for protecting garden beds, raised planters, and flower pots from squirrels digging up bulbs and destroying plants. Place 50cm strips along the edges of raised beds or around the perimeter of planters to prevent squirrels from jumping in and causing garden damage.

-
IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER FOR SQUIRREL SPIKE STRIPS IN CANADA?
No, there is no minimum order requirement. You can order as few or as many 50cm squirrel spike strips as you need. This makes it easy to buy squirrel spikes for a small balcony railing or scale up to cover an entire perimeter fence — you only pay for what you need.
-
HOW DO SQUIRREL SPIKES COMPARE TO OTHER SQUIRREL DETERRENT METHODS?
Squirrel spike strips offer several advantages over other squirrel deterrent methods such as ultrasonic repellers, chemical sprays, or live traps. Spikes provide a permanent, maintenance-free physical barrier that works 24/7 without batteries, refills, or ongoing costs. They are also far quicker to install than squirrel-proof mesh or netting systems, making them the most cost-effective long-term squirrel control solution for Canadian homeowners.
-
WHERE CAN I USE SQUIRREL SPIKES AROUND MY HOME?
Squirrel spike strips are incredibly versatile. Common installation areas include fence tops, roof edges, eaves, gutters, ledges, balcony railings, shed roofs, garden walls, pergolas, windowsills, and downspouts. Anywhere squirrels climb, perch, or gain access to your property is a good candidate for squirrel spike protection.
-
HOW DO I STOP SQUIRRELS FROM RUNNING ALONG THE TOP OF MY WOODEN FENCE?
The most effective way to stop squirrels from using your wooden fence as a highway is to install squirrel spike strips along the entire top rail. Line up 50cm strips end to end with no gaps, and secure them with screws, nails, or adhesive. This creates a continuous barrier that prevents squirrels from running across and jumping into your yard or onto your roof.
-
DO SQUIRREL SPIKES ALSO DETER RACCOONS, POSSUMS, AND CATS?
Yes, our stainless steel squirrel spike strips are effective at deterring a range of pest animals beyond squirrels, including raccoons, possums, cats, and birds. The spikes create an uncomfortable landing surface that discourages any small to medium-sized animal from perching, climbing, or walking across the protected area.
Anti Squirrel Spikes: Your Guide to Squirrel Deterrent Spikes and DIY Squirrel Spikes for Home Protection
You do not need to hire a pest control company to protect your property from squirrels. With the right products, basic tools, and a clear understanding of where squirrels access your home, you can install an effective anti squirrel spike system yourself in a single weekend. Thousands of homeowners do exactly this every year, saving on professional installation fees while gaining the satisfaction of solving a persistent problem with their own hands.
Squirrel deterrent spikes are among the most DIY-friendly pest control products available. They require no electrical connections, no specialist equipment, and no ongoing chemical applications. The installation involves mounting spike strips on flat surfaces using adhesive, screws, or cable ties, which are skills that anyone comfortable with basic home maintenance can handle confidently. Whether you purchase ready-made commercial spike strips or build your own DIY squirrel spikes from raw materials, the end result is the same: a permanent, humane barrier that prevents squirrels from using your fences, walls, and roofline as pathways to damage your property.
Ready-Made vs. DIY Squirrel Spikes: Which Approach Is Right for You?
Before you begin any squirrel spike project, the first decision is whether to purchase commercially manufactured anti squirrel spikes or build your own from scratch. Both approaches produce functional results, but they differ in cost, time investment, consistency, and long-term performance.
Advantages of Ready-Made Commercial Spikes
Commercial squirrel deterrent spikes are engineered specifically for the task. The pin height, diameter, spacing, and base width have been designed and tested to create a barrier that squirrels cannot defeat. The materials, whether stainless steel or UV-stabilised polycarbonate, are selected for decades of outdoor performance. The base strips are manufactured to consistent dimensions that allow strip-to-strip joining with no gaps. And the mounting systems are designed for secure, lasting attachment to the range of surfaces homeowners need to protect.
For most homeowners, ready-made spikes offer the fastest route to an effective installation. You purchase the strips, mount them on the target surfaces, and the job is done. There is no fabrication, no material sourcing, and no guesswork about whether the finished product will actually deter a squirrel. The engineering and testing have already been done by the manufacturer, and you are buying a proven result rather than experimenting with an unproven design.
Advantages of DIY Squirrel Spikes Built From Scratch
Building your own DIY squirrel spikes appeals to homeowners who enjoy hands-on projects, want to customise the spike dimensions for a specific application, or prefer to use materials they already have on hand. A home-built spike strip can be tailored to the exact width of your fence, the precise profile of your wall cap, or the specific angle of your roof edge in ways that a standard commercial strip may not accommodate without modification.
DIY spikes also offer creative flexibility. You can use stainless steel nails driven through a timber batten, cable ties standing upright through a strip of rigid plastic, or lengths of galvanised wire bent into spike formations and mounted on a base board. The variety of possible designs is limited only by your imagination and the materials available to you. However, this flexibility comes with the responsibility of ensuring your DIY design is actually effective against squirrels, which requires understanding the specifications that determine whether a spike barrier works or fails.
The Hybrid Approach: Commercial Strips With DIY Adaptation
Many homeowners find the best results come from purchasing commercial anti squirrel spikes for the main fence and wall runs, then fabricating custom DIY sections for awkward locations where standard strips do not fit neatly. Post caps, irregular corners, pipe brackets, and curved surfaces often require bespoke solutions that are easier to fabricate on site than to find in a commercial catalogue. Using commercial strips for the bulk of the installation ensures consistent quality and reliable performance, while DIY sections fill the gaps that standard products leave.
Critical Specifications for Any Squirrel Spike System
Whether you buy commercial squirrel deterrent spikes or build your own, the spike system must meet certain minimum specifications to be effective against squirrels. Falling short on any of these parameters produces a barrier that looks like it should work but does not.
Minimum Pin Height
The spikes must stand at least 100 millimetres above the base surface to prevent a squirrel from reaching over or stepping past them. Shorter spikes may deter small birds but allow a squirrel to stretch across the top and find flat surface on the other side. If you are building DIY squirrel spikes, measure your pin height from the top of the base material to the tip of the spike, not from the mounting surface, to ensure the effective deterrent height meets the minimum threshold.
Minimum Pin Diameter and Rigidity
Pins thinner than 1.5 millimetres in diameter flex under squirrel weight and can be pushed aside by a determined animal. Effective anti squirrel spikes use pins of 1.5 to 3.0 millimetres in diameter that hold their position absolutely when a squirrel applies its full body weight and grip strength. For DIY builds, stainless steel nails or galvanised wire of 2.0 millimetres or thicker provide adequate rigidity. Thin wire, plastic cable ties, or wooden skewers are too flexible and too fragile to serve as reliable squirrel deterrent spikes, even if they appear intimidating when first installed.
Maximum Pin Spacing
The gap between adjacent pins must be narrow enough that a squirrel cannot place its paw flat on the base between two spikes. A squirrel’s paw pad is approximately 15 to 20 millimetres wide, so pin spacing should not exceed 15 millimetres to eliminate any flat landing area. Wider spacing allows the squirrel to walk between the pins using the base as a pathway, rendering the spikes decorative rather than functional. This specification is the one most commonly missed in DIY builds, where the temptation to space pins widely to save materials creates a barrier full of comfortable walkways for a nimble squirrel.
Base Width and Surface Coverage
The spike strip base must cover the full width of the surface being protected. A narrow strip centred on a wide fence rail leaves exposed edges on both sides that a squirrel can walk along. Measure the width of your mounting surface and choose or build a spike base that matches or slightly exceeds this dimension. For surfaces wider than a single spike strip, install two rows side by side with the outer edges of each row aligned with the outer edges of the surface.
Humane Tip Design
Squirrel deterrent spikes are designed to deter, not injure. Pin tips should be rounded or blunted rather than needle-sharp. A blunt tip creates discomfort and instability that prevents the squirrel from using the surface without risking puncture injuries that could cause harm. If your DIY build uses nails or wire, file or grind the tips to remove sharp points before installation. Humane design is both an ethical obligation and, in many regions, a legal requirement for wildlife deterrent products installed on residential properties.
Building Your Own DIY Squirrel Spikes
If you choose to fabricate your own squirrel spikes, several proven designs produce effective results using readily available materials and basic tools.
Nail-Through-Batten Method
This is the simplest and most popular DIY squirrel spike design. Take a length of treated timber batten approximately 40 to 50 millimetres wide and 15 to 20 millimetres thick. Drive stainless steel or galvanised nails through the batten from the underside so the nail points project upward from the top surface. Space the nails at 10 to 15 millimetre intervals across the full width and length of the batten, creating a dense forest of pins that a squirrel cannot navigate. File the exposed nail tips to a rounded point, then mount the batten on your fence top or wall cap using screws or adhesive.
The nail-through-batten method is effective, inexpensive, and allows you to customise the strip length and width to any dimension. The main limitations are the weight of the timber batten, which is heavier than commercial plastic or thin metal base strips, and the eventual deterioration of the timber in outdoor conditions. Using pressure-treated timber extends the lifespan to five years or more, but the batten will eventually need replacement, whereas a commercial stainless steel strip will not.
Wire Loop Method
Cut lengths of galvanised or stainless steel wire, each approximately 200 millimetres long, and bend each piece into a U-shape or V-shape. Drill a series of small holes along a strip of rigid material such as aluminium angle, PVC strip, or treated timber, and insert the wire loops through the holes so both ends of each wire project upward as twin spikes. Secure the wires with a dab of epoxy or by crimping the wire beneath the base strip. This method produces a double-pin spike at each position, which provides excellent coverage, and the flexible choice of base material allows you to match the strip to your mounting surface.
Cable Tie Fence Spike Method
For a quick, temporary anti squirrel spike solution, heavy-duty cable ties can be attached to the top of a fence at close intervals using screw-fixed saddle clips or by threading them through holes drilled in a mounting strip. The standing portion of each cable tie acts as a semi-rigid spike that deters squirrels from walking across the surface. This method is the least durable of the DIY options because cable ties degrade in UV light and lose rigidity over one to two seasons of outdoor exposure, but it provides an immediate, low-effort deterrent while you plan a more permanent installation.
Important Considerations for All DIY Builds
Regardless of the method you choose, test your DIY squirrel spikes against the specifications outlined earlier before installing them across your entire property. Build a short test section, mount it in a location where squirrels are active, and observe whether the spikes effectively prevent squirrel access over a period of several days. If squirrels are navigating through or around the test section, adjust the pin height, spacing, or base width before committing to a full installation. A test section takes an hour to build and a few days to evaluate, and it prevents the frustration of discovering that your design does not work after you have installed it on fifty metres of fence.
Installing Anti Squirrel Spikes: A Step-by-Step Guide for Homeowners
Whether you are installing commercial strips or home-built spikes, the installation process follows the same logical sequence that ensures complete, secure, and effective coverage.
Step One: Survey and Measure
Walk your entire property boundary and identify every surface that squirrels are using or could use as a travel route. Measure the total linear length of fence tops, wall caps, roof edges, and other surfaces that need protection. Note the width of each surface, the location of corners, posts, gates, and junctions, and any specific challenges such as curved surfaces, irregular profiles, or hard-to-reach areas. Record everything on a simple sketch or list so you can calculate materials accurately and plan your installation sequence.
Step Two: Gather Materials and Tools
Based on your survey, purchase or prepare the spike strips, mounting adhesive, screws or cable ties, and any cutting tools needed to trim strips to length. For commercial strips, order enough linear metres to cover your measured total plus 10 percent for waste, cuts, and overlaps at junctions. For DIY builds, prepare all your spikes and base strips before starting installation so the mounting process can proceed smoothly without interruptions for fabrication. Gather a sturdy ladder, work gloves, safety glasses, a tape measure, a pencil for marking, and a saw or heavy-duty scissors for cutting strips to length.
Step Three: Prepare Surfaces
Clean every mounting surface along the full installation route. Remove moss, lichen, dirt, loose paint, and cobwebs that would prevent adhesive from bonding or create an unstable base for the strips. Allow timber surfaces to dry completely before applying adhesive. On metal surfaces, wipe with a degreasing solvent to ensure a clean bonding surface. On masonry, brush away loose material and dust. Clean surfaces bond better, hold longer, and produce a more professional finished appearance.
Step Four: Install From One End to the Other
Begin at one end of each fence or wall run and work methodically toward the other end. Apply adhesive or fixings, press the strip into position, and move to the next section. Butt each strip tightly against the previous one with no gap. At posts, cover the post top with a short spike section before continuing along the next panel. At corners, cut one strip to fit the angle precisely and start the next strip on the perpendicular surface. At gates, apply strips across the gate top and both gate posts to maintain continuous coverage across the entire boundary.
Step Five: Check for Gaps and Weak Points
After completing the installation, walk the entire route again and inspect every section for gaps between strips, uncovered post tops, unprotected gate sections, and any areas where the strip has not adhered properly to the surface. Pay particular attention to corners and junctions where coverage gaps are most likely to occur. Fill any gaps immediately, as a single unprotected section as short as 50 millimetres is enough for a squirrel to land on and use as a bypass point.
Step Six: Observe and Adjust
Over the first two weeks after installation, observe your spike-protected surfaces for signs of squirrel activity. Look for scratch marks, droppings, or sightings of squirrels testing the barrier. Successful deterrence is confirmed by the absence of these signs along the protected route and, often, by the presence of squirrels sitting on the ground near the fence looking frustrated. If you observe squirrels successfully crossing any section of the installation, investigate whether the issue is a coverage gap, insufficient pin height, excessive pin spacing, or an alternative access route that bypasses the spiked surfaces entirely.
Combining Squirrel Deterrent Spikes With Other DIY Measures
Anti squirrel spikes are most effective when combined with other deterrent measures that address the various ways squirrels access and are attracted to your property.
Branch Trimming
Trim tree branches to maintain at least a two-metre gap between any branch and your fence, wall, or roofline. Overhanging branches provide aerial bypasses that allow squirrels to drop onto your property beyond the spiked perimeter. Branch trimming is a free, immediate, and highly effective complement to spike installation that eliminates the most common method squirrels use to defeat fence-level barriers.
Downpipe and Climbing Guards
Squirrels that cannot cross spiked fences may attempt to reach your roof by climbing drainpipes, soil pipes, and other vertical structures adjacent to the building. Cone-shaped guards or smooth metal bands fitted around these structures prevent upward climbing and close the vertical access route that complements the horizontal route blocked by your fence spikes. DIY climbing guards can be fabricated from sheet metal or smooth plastic formed into a cone shape and clamped around the pipe.
Entry Point Sealing
Inspect your roof, soffits, fascias, and wall vents for gaps, holes, and deteriorated sections that a squirrel could enlarge to gain entry to enclosed spaces. Seal these openings with heavy-gauge galvanised mesh, sheet metal, or purpose-designed vent covers that a squirrel cannot chew through. Expanding foam, lightweight plastic, and thin timber are not adequate barriers. Sealing entry points ensures that even a squirrel that somehow bypasses your spike barriers cannot gain access to the interior of your building.
Repellent Application
Apply scent or taste-based squirrel repellents to specific items that squirrels are chewing, such as wooden deck posts, garden furniture, and cable runs. Capsaicin-based sprays are particularly effective for deterring gnawing behaviour and can be applied to surfaces that are difficult to protect with physical barriers. Repellents require periodic reapplication but provide a useful supplementary layer of deterrence for targeted problem areas.
Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeders
If bird feeders are attracting squirrels to your garden, replace standard feeders with squirrel-proof models that use weight-activated port closures or external cages that allow small birds to access the seed while excluding squirrels. Removing the food incentive reduces the squirrel’s motivation to persist through your deterrent barriers and makes your entire control strategy more effective by attacking the problem from the demand side as well as the access side.
Maintaining Your Spike Installation Over Time
Whether your anti squirrel spikes are commercial or home-built, a small amount of seasonal maintenance keeps them performing at full effectiveness.
Clear Debris Twice a Year
Leaves, twigs, and windblown material accumulate on spike strips, particularly during autumn. This debris creates a mat above the spike tips that squirrels can walk across without contacting the pins. Brush debris from your spikes in late autumn after leaf fall and again in early spring before peak squirrel activity season. A stiff hand brush or a blast from a leaf blower clears most accumulation quickly.
Inspect and Repair Annually
During your annual property maintenance routine, inspect the full length of your spike installation for loose strips, broken pins, adhesive failures, and surface deterioration beneath the mounting points. Reattach or replace any compromised sections immediately. For DIY timber-based spikes, check the batten for rot, splitting, or warping that could affect the spike positions. Replace deteriorated DIY sections with fresh builds or upgrade them to commercial strips for improved longevity.
A Weekend Project That Protects for Years
Installing squirrel deterrent spikes is one of those rare home projects where the effort is small, the skills required are basic, and the results are immediate and lasting. A single weekend of measuring, mounting, and securing spike strips along your fence tops, wall caps, and roof edges creates a barrier system that works around the clock, through every season, without batteries, chemicals, or follow-up visits. Commercial spikes deliver proven performance out of the box, while DIY squirrel spikes offer creative homeowners the satisfaction of building their own solution from materials they trust.
Whichever route you take, the key is completeness. Cover every surface, close every gap, protect every post top and gate, and combine your spikes with branch trimming, climbing guards, and entry point sealing for a layered defence that squirrels cannot defeat. Do it once, do it thoroughly, and your anti squirrel spikes will give you years of protection from an animal that was never going to stop coming back on its own.

Isabella –
So we had a problem with squirrels getting into our our pool heater and feasting on pecans. I looked for several things to try and prevent them and decided on these ‘cat repellent’ spike strips. After nearly 2 weeks, there is no sign of them in the heater.
Sansford –
Pretty decent product , I was happy to see something like this on the market. There are bobcats spotted near the back of my house, and I wanted some line of defense to protect my 10 pound dog that likes to hang out in the backyard during the day . Your product seem to take care of that first line of defense, (preventive scaling/walking the TOP of my wooden back fence, and jumping into my backyard).

Nice product. I got rid of my enemies in my house and fence haha 2 thumbs up for this. Recommended to my friends.

I do feel this product will serve me well over all on any predators over 25 pounds that may be interested enough to hop up-top my fence.
Marcus –
Incredibly thick and the cats haven’t been back to sit on our outdoor furniture! We taped some together to make sure them larger.

I ordered the defender spikes to keep possums off of my wooden fence and since I put them defender spikes up I have not seen a possum on the fence. They have not seemed to deter squirrels, however, but that’s okay with me. I am going to put up a few more strips.

We are at our wits end over the squirrels & cats that destroy my plants & smell up my backyard. We stated with one package & have added many more. It doesn’t exactly keep the cats away, but they don’t like walking on them & squirrels are avoiding them. We did have to redo them because the suggested glue did not work on the bricks.

THis was one of the best things i got. Recently my cat has been trying to escape to the oustide world from my window and i have been keep my windows closed because of this. SO i saw this and thought this might work. Well by Golly.. it worked.. he put his paws on it and next thing i knew and say was him running away.. I check his paws to see if any injuries. I found none.. He was just pricked and it works.. I have been able to leave the window open and i dont expect him to try to get onto the window sill no more.. So far it has been like a month or so and he is no where near the window.. Great things come in small packages.. I did not even taped it to the window sills.. I just put it on and then when i closed the window i take them off the window sills.

I glued this on my fence posts, my black fence post was turning white due to all the bird droppings.
After installing this, I’ve noticed a very significant reduction of bird traffic to my fence post, but it did not completely eliminate it. Some birds can stand on the spikes just fine.
Overall I’m happy with the product as it did reduce bird traffic, I hope the company will find a way to completely eliminate bird traffic, perhaps longer spikes may work?

The product came as specified and expected. It would have been more helpful, particularly for people who are not very handy, to have recommendations for hole size and screw size to drill, or type of adhesive to apply. The general instructions of “clean surface and apply adhesive” or “clean surface and screw into place” might be a bit too general for some buyers. In my application on a gutter downspout, 7/64″ pilot holes in the downspout with a #6 stainless steel sheet metal screw 3/8″ long worked well with this product. I was careful to select a metal alloy screw compatible with the aluminum downspout to avoid corrosion with dissimilar metals.

Thank you very much for such helpful product !It arrived even prior listing date, great green packaging. It took only one attempt to train “my” squirrel, which used to ruin all my container projects on my balcony. I don’t have any intruders anymore. I am recommending this product to my friends and neighbors

Thanks. I just installed several strips around a raised strawberry box that was under constant attack by squirrels and birds. They worked so well I just placed another order to protect my espaliered apple tree and pear tree.

Squirrels were jumping from the deck railing (on the steps) to the platform feeder hanging from a tree branch. The traffic has stopped! I used garden twine to attach it; it’s secure with no damage to our new deck. In the summer I will use them to protect the rail planters as well.

I’ve mounted mine along the backside of a pergola to prevent doves from nesting. So far things are wonderful.

Like everything about bird spike. Easy to install ( I used double sided tape I already had) and…. It works… I sit on my balcony a lot and have observed that the birds fly around the posts but no longer sit on the railing and drop bird poop on my balcony tiles

Don’t waste your time buying Owl scarecrows, this thing has reduce my problem in a 90% so it Really work.
Julie –
These worked perfectly for what we needed. I like that they’re spiky enough to keep cat off, but not so spiky that they hurt her when she does paw at them. Couldn’t be happier.
judy –
Easy to install and no more bird poop on my garden swing cushions! Thank you!

We have had swarms of swallows, sparrows and pidgins setting up shop on our back railing for years. The ness they left needed to be cleaned up so often, I started leaving the power washer in the backyard. These spikes were EXACTLY the right size and we haven’t had a bird back there for weeks. I’m mad at myself for not getting these sooner. Outstanding product!

Like the way that it has section. Put them under my garage and the birds have stopped building their nests. Easy to put up. Great product.
